LeBron James exploded for a career-high 61 points in the Heat's 124-107 victory over the Bobcats recently.
Lebron James scoring outburst established a Heat franchise scoring record, which Glen Rice set with 56 points against the Magic on April 15, 1995. The four-time MVP shot 22-for-33 from the field, 8-for-10 from three-point range and 9-for-12 from the free-throw line.
Clearly Lebron James had a great night that night but how does it stack against Kobe Bryant's 81 point game and Michael Jordan's 63 point play-off game?
Kobe Bryant registered one of the most astounding single-game performances the NBA has ever seen as in just under 42 minutes, Kobe Bryant put up 81 points, shooting 28-of-46 from the field, 7-of-13 from three, 18-of-20 from the line, to lead his Los Angeles Lakers past the visiting Toronto Raptors, 122-104 last January 22, 2006.
Kobe Bryant's 81 point game is 2nd highest scoring game just under Wilt Chamberlain's 100 point game.
On April 20, 1986, in the Boston Garden, a playoff game in which the player eventually to be regarded as the greatest ever to play, Michael Jordan, scored the most points in a playoff game against one of the teams regarded by many as the best ever, The Boston Celtics led by Larry Bird.
Michael Jordan had 63 points, shooting 22-of-41 from the field and 19-of-21 from the line.
Larry Bird then said the famous "God disguised as Michael Jordan" quote after that game, after Jordan carried the Chicago Bulls team to double overtime before finally losing to the Celtics, 135-131.
What do you think? Is Lebron's 61 point game comparable to Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant's infamous high scoring games? Sound off in the comments below!
