Lupita Nyong'o is dating K'Naan, or so, reports say. The Kenyan stunner - who just won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress - was seen the leaving the Live! TV studios the morning after the event on Monday, cozy in the arms of the Somalian rapper. They appeared quite tight, with K'Naan holding the Academy Award winner close in one arm while the other clutched her golden Oscar statue.
The two have never spoken about each other in the media, but K'Naan has posted a selfie of him and Nyong'o on his Instagram account. The two were barely visible in the photo, and it was captioned, "Me and @lupitanyongo without flash. #proudtobeunseen #protestingflash #lightingequality #causesthatdontexist #butshould."
Nyong'o, who has become one of Hollywood's current crop of It girls, has actually been linked to quite a few of Hollywood's eligible bachelors already. She was rumored to be dating X-Men: First Class actor Michael Fassbender and 30 Seconds to Mars lead singer and fellow Oscar winner Jared Leto. Fassbender was her co-star in 12 Years A Slave, while Leto was her Academy Awards co-nominee and now fellow winner. The rumors are proving to be just rumors however, as she and K'Naan are apparently an item.
K'Naan, whose real name is Keinan Abdi Warsame, was born in Somalia and was able to witness the start of the Somali Civil War in 1991. He fled Somalia when he was 13, along with his mother and three siblings. The family stayed with relatives in New York City, and then moved to Canada eventually. Growing up, K'Naan learned hiphop by himself and went on to become a singer and rapper. He is known to be an activist as well, giving his support to various causes. He has worked with Bono in raising awareness on the 2011 Eastern Africa drought, and has been helping promote the Canadian Bill C-393, which aims to bring more medical assistance to Africa.
