"Inspiring Generation" is a big budget drama and the investment shows. The $13 million reportedly spent on production has paid off in some stunning film sets. But recently it was rumored that the drama's budget did not include enough money to pay the salaries of all the drama's actors.
It was recently reported that actors had not been paid all the money they were due but the drama's production company said that such reports are misleading. They recently spoke about the issue with OSEN.
"Payments for appearances have already been made," said a representative for Ray & Mo, the drama's production company. "The reports that we did not pay appearance fees are far from the truth. We have paid most of the appearance fees for the lead cast."
Well that means Kim Hyun Joong and Jin Se Yeon are bringing home paychecks but what about everyone else? Has the supporting cast been paid?
According to Ray & Mo, the company signed a contract with the supporting actors' casting company from September 2013 to January of 2014. They paid what was negotiated until November.
The drama's cast and crew have individual contracts. Each contract differs, including details on how the cast or crew will be paid. Some are paid in advance and some after. Some may even be paid in installments.
"It is possible there are different views about this but we are minimizing this matter through mutual agreement," said the Ray & Mo representative.
The hold-up in some payments seems to revolve around a dispute with the casting company that deals with the supporting cast.
"We already canceled our contract with the assisting casting company, which claims the cast members they represent were not paid," said the Ray & Mo representative. "The company was not pleased with the agreed upon appearance fees and began making unrealistic demands."
Ray & Mo was surprised at and upset by the story that they had not paid cast members as they have every intention of paying fees that have previously been agreed upon.
"It is embarrassing that these discussions are taking place because we are already working with another company."
The company representative called it careless to say that people were not being paid as the drama is still being filmed. They cautioned that rumors of not being paid could lower morale on set and affect the quality of the production.
"Please don't make hasty decisions about this," they asked.
