He's a rookie actor but already he's getting to romance Lee Min Jung in "Cunning Single Lady" and he has done photo shoots with top actress Yoon Eun Hye for 'High Cut" magazine.

But then Seo Kang Joon aimed at success in an unusual way. He's a member of the actor group 5uprise that was launched by the Fantagio Entertainment Agency. The group is composed of five actors. Instead of starting with music, they want to start by acting and one day branch out into music, commercials and variety shows. So far, the six-foot-tall Seo Kang Joon is ahead of the pack. And that's fitting because he is their leader.

With his fellow 5urpise members he debuted in the 2013 dramatoon, "After School Bokbulbok." As he is in real life, he played the group leader using his own name. The 15-minute episodes were viewed through smartphones and tablet PCs. But then his career took off.

After that he had a cameo appearance in "Good Doctor," which starred Joo Won, winning praise for his good looks.

His next drama role was more significant. He played Choi Soo Hyuk, a talented musician with family problems and Kim So Hyun's crush in "The Suspicious Housekeeper."

Then he appeared in "Drama Festival: Haneuljae's Murder."

And now he has a supporting role, playing the second male lead and rival to Joo Sang Wook in "Cunning Single Lady."

Serving as the competition for a veteran k-drama actor such as Joo Sang Wook is also a pretty big deal for a 20-year-old. In "Cunning Single Lady," he plays Gook Seung Hyun the 27-year-old son of Chairman Gook. His father is a major investor in Joo sang Wook's successful company. Seung Hyun really likes Lee Min Jung's character Na Ae Ra and does what he can to help her succeed in the company without initially revealing who he really is. But she doesn't really see him as a man. She is too busy trying to sort out her complicated feelings for her ex-husband, played by Joo Sang Wook. Does she love him or hate her ex? And should she try to win him back now that he is a success.

Lee Min Jung's character is supposed to be seven years older than Seo Kang Joon's character in the drama when in real life she is 12 years older than he is.

Will she ever consider Seo Kang Joon as a suitable romantic candidate? Probably not. But it could make Joo Sang Wook jealous.

And romancing Lee Min Jung, even if she does not respond, cannot hurt Seo Kang Joon's career.
