The Weeknd seems to be following in the footsteps of collaborator Drake in launching a clothing line. The R&B singer, born Abel Tesfaye, and his XO squad are launching a line of women's apparel as part of his Official Issue XO collection for the spring of 2014. Drake launched his clothing line OVO back in October 2013; since February 14 of this year, the line of sweatshirts, T-shirts, and knit caps has been carried by Nordstrom.
The full lookbook of the Weeknd's XO collection can be viewed on his website. The women's collection includes all-over print crop-tops, leggings, and girl cut tees. There are also unisex graphic longsleeve tees with the artist's XO logo. Hyghly Alleyne, on the XO creative team, produced a sensual and moody lookbook, which can be seen in full on the Weeknd's official website. All items are available on The Weeknd website.
After rumors of beef between the Weeknd and Drake, news broke that the two are starring together on up and coming rapper Ty Dolla $ign's "Or Nah (Remix)." The Weeknd was a huge influence on shaping the sound on Drake's Grammy award-winning Take Care album. His somber presence can be felt throughout the album, with similar sounds to his "House of Balloons" project. The Weeknd had multiple writing credits on "Take Care," including "Shot For Me" and "The Ride". Last December, Drake tweeted "You won't get away with just a thank you...you owe me a favor." The tweet was apparently a shot at Tesfaye, who had signed with Universal Republic instead of Drake's OVO label a few months earlier. Both artists have denied problems in their relationship, and with the emergence of the Ty Dolla $ign remix, it sounds like things are well in the world of OVOXO.
