Nearly four months after Fast and Furious 7 star Paul Walker died in the midst of filming the film franchise, a source has confirmed to the New York Daily News that the movie will continue with his computer-generated likeness.
"They have hired four actors with bodies very similar to Paul's physique and they will be used for movement and as a base," a source said, according to the New York Daily News.
"Paul's face and voice will be used on top using CGI."
Although Universal stated in December that Walker would return to the film, the studio has not yet acknowledged the body double rumors.
"Continuing the global exploits in the franchise built on speed, Vin Diesel and Paul Walker lead the returning cast of Fast & Furious 7," the studio had said in a statement.
Walker died on November 30, 2013 in a car accident in which speed of the driver-Walker's friend, Roger Rodas-and a pair of 9-year-old tires were factors. According to the coroner's report, Walker died of severe blunt head, neck and chest trauma.
His death came during a break of half-way through shooting of the franchise, causing a halt to the filming.
With Walker's return, a source said the studio felt confident that fans of the series would feel satisfied with the result, according to the New York Daily News. Walker's costars have also remained optimistic about his role in the racing movie.
"The transition into that Dom state of mind has always been an interesting one," Costar Vin Diesel said of his role in the film, according to his Facebook.
"Only this time there is added purpose, a collective goal to make this the best one in the series."
The film is set to premiere April 10, 2015.
