Get ready to be excited, PlayStation gamers: Sony will be developing a way to put some classic PlayStation 1 and 2 games in the PlayStation 4 in 1080p resolution. We know this thanks to someone taking to Twitter with all kinds of information on the new PS1 and PS2 games for the PS4.
The source is Ahsan Rasheed, a noted insider in the gaming industry, made a number of tweets claiming that Sony has plans to support the PS1 and PS2 titles on the latest console PlayStation 4. It was largely assumed in the PlayStation Now game streaming service would fill that spot but instead, they're might actually a possibility of having classic games on the PS1 and PS2 in the PlayStation 4.
Here are Ahsan Rasheed's tweets below.
Rasheed claims that some titles will even be capable of rendering natively at 1080p. While the details like textures and shaders would likely be left untouched, the game itself could be made to run at resolutions never possible with the original hardware.
Rasheed also mentioned virtual reality demos at upcoming events, Blu-ray/media player updates and Sony's willingness to adapt to game developer criticism and suggestions while building the Project Morpheus headset. Rasheed's list of features may very well come to fruition, but we likely won't see many of them until E3.
Last generation, PlayStation 3 saw mountains of HD remakes of PS2 games. Titles like God of War, Devil May Cry, Shadow of the Colossus, and Final Fantasy X were ported to the PS3, and given a complete graphical makeover. As for Sony's game streaming service, the PlayStation Now, will allegedly allow gamers to stream and rent PS3 titles for $5 to $6 a title, says CVG. The PlayStation Now will reportedly permit gaming from almost any Sony device, adds the outlet.
So PlayStation fans, what do think of the PS1 and PS2 emulated PS4?
