It's hard to imagine the actor who played Park Soo Ha in "I Hear Your Voice" being rude to anyone. But a recent incident at the airport made it seem as if Lee Jong Suk behaved badly to one of his fans.
The incident happened when a fan tried to give him a gift and he pushed her hand away. The expression on his face made it look as if he really did not want to be bothered.
That was not the case, he said in an apology on his fan café. In the confusion, he says, he did not even realize that a fan was trying to give him a gift.
From a brief youtube video clip of the event viewers can see that he may not have seen the fan. And he was so busy for the next day that it took him a while to realize what happened.
"With my schedule finished, I was finally able to grasp the situation," he wrote. "First off, I am very, very sorry and I apologize for shocking you. It makes it seem as if everything I said about my fans before was not true so I am very sad and scared that my future actions will appear as lies in your eyes."
Although he actor took full blame for the problem, he wanted to explain what happened. His apparent disdain of the fan had more to do with the way he felt about his security detail crowding him.
"I am normally excessively guarded and protected," he said. "That has concerned me a lot. And while adjusting to my recent Hong Kong schedule, there were some problems."
He says he did not see the fan that was trying to give him a present.
"When someone pulled my arm, I thought it was of course my manager and I pulled my arm away," he said.
But it was a fan.
"There were a lot of reporters there too so I got flustered and couldn't hide my expressions. I had not met that fan before so I am very, very sorry and it is my fault. I will do better in the future."
The actor genuinely seemed upset that his fans should think he did not want to meet them.
