NCAA Tournament 2014: John Calipari might have been right all along. Before the NCAA season began, he claimed that these batches of freshmen are the best he has ever handled and even bet that they will have a 40-0 in the eliminations. That prediction did not pan out as they ended up with 30-10 record despite being led by top 5 rivals.com recruit Julius Randle, and other 5-star recruits such as James Young, Dakari Johnson, and The Harrison twins, Aaron and Andrew.
Although they have struggled during the season, they picked up the pace and have been very impressive during the tournament and they are now headed to the Final 4.
In their showdown against the Michigan Wolverines, Harrison made a 3-pointer with 2.3 seconds left Sunday to lift eighth-seeded Kentucky to a 75-72 win over Michigan and send the Wildcats to the program's 16th Final Four.
"Making that shot and seeing my teammates so happy and running toward me, it's the best feeling in the world," Harrison said after the game.
Did he think the shot would go in?
"Yeah, I think had a little bit of an [idea]," Harrison said. "Not fully, but kind of."
Although his boast was preposterous, Calipari might actually have the last laugh as his players are beginning to have excellent chemistry, which they did not have much of in the beginning of the tournament.
''It's a process,'' coach John Calipari said. ''Every year, it's a process. Some guys get it quicker than others. It took these guys a little longer, and it took me a little longer to figure them out.''
A Final Four date with Wisconsin awaits Kentucky at AT&T Stadium next Saturday and the Wildcats are early 2.5-point favorites.
