Robert Pattinson is in a new movie called "The Rover" which is being shown at the legendary French movie film festival Cannes. The 27-year-old actor co-stars with Guy Pearce in the film. The film was directed by David Michôd and is based on a story by David Michôd and Joel Edgerton. The movie also stars Scoot McNairy, Anthony Hayes, Gillian Jones, Susan Prior, Nash Edgerton, David Field, Jamie Fallon and Samuel F. Lee.
"The Rover" is set in the future in the Australian desert. Ten years following the collapse of society, a man named Eric (Pearce) will go to any lengths to take back the one thing that still matters to him. When his last possession is stolen by a gang of dangerous criminals, Eric sets off on a hunt to find them. Along the way he enlists the help of Rey (Pattinson) who is a naïve and injured member of the gang, who was left behind by his fellow gang members.
It was recently announced that The Rover has been chosen as an Official Selection at the famous movie festival Cannes, which runs from May 14- May 25 in Cannes, France. The Rover hits theaters in New York and Los Angeles on June 13 and nationwide on June 20.
Pattinson will also be seen in at Cannes in "Maps to the Stars" a satire also starring Julianne Moore, John Cusack, and Mia Wasikowska. As for ex-girl friend Kristen Stewart, she has a movie called "Clouds of Sils Maria" which is also showing at Cannes, starring with Juliette Binoche and Chloë Grace Moretz. "Clouds of Sils Maria" was selected to compete for the Palme d'Or in the main competition section at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival. The film is a German-French-Swiss co-production. The film is about a formerly successful actress, Maria Enders (Binoche) who is haunted by her past life. She withdraws herself along with her loyal assistant Valentine (Stewart) to the Swiss town of Sils Maria.
