Seahawks QB Russell Wilson: Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson has announced that he and his wife Ashton Meen are divorcing. After more than 2 years of marriage, the couple decided to have separate ways. According to CBS News, Wilson made the announcement in a statement released to media outlets via Seahawks on Wednesday. Wilson said, "I have made the difficult decision to file for divorce. Clearly, decisions like these don't come easy. Ashton and I respectfully ask for prayers, understanding and privacy during this difficult time. Moving forward, I will have no further comment on this personal matter.''

According to Seattle Times, Wilson had known the 26-year-old Ashton since they attended high school in Richmond, Va., and according to previous stories, began dating while each went to North Carolina State, where Wilson played quarterback and was on the baseball team. Wilson finished his college career with one season at Wisconsin in 2011.

The pair married on January 14, 2012 at The Country Club of Virginia in Richmond. According to a 2012 story in the Richmond Times-Dispatch, the wedding featured "a dramatic winterscape of 20 full-size trees'' and a "reception for 300 guests soared off the charts as Big Swing and the Ballroom Blasters took to the stage," quoted from Seattle Times.

Wilson was drafted a few months later in the third round by the Seahawks, named the team's starting quarterback before the season. According to reports, he became an almost immediate sensation by leading Seattle to an 11-5 record and a playoff win in 2012, tying an NFL rookie record with 26 touchdown passes. According to Daily Mail, Meem infamously got a brief taste of the national spotlight during the 2012 NFL draft when her enthusiastic reaction to the news that the Seahawks had enlisted Wilson went viral.

Meem said, "The thing of it was, we had a camera crew in [Wilson's house] all day with us, and I guess I was a little bit newer to that style of filming .So I thought they were gonna be like, "okay, ready, and you're on." They just kept flashing back and forth to us, and I was like, I'm gonna just enjoy this and be myself. And then the moment came, and I guess that's the reaction I had."

Wilson then led Seattle to its first Super Bowl title, a 43-8 win over Denver on Feb. 2 in New Jersey, following a 13-3 regular season record.
