Sofia Vergara and Scarlett Johansson heat it up in a hot new movie by director/writer/actor Jon Favreau named “Chef.” The movie, a lush tribute to food and the culinary arts, is comedy/drama about a once-praised chef Carl Casper who starts a food truck after he loses his job at restaurant. He is aided by his ex (Sofia Vergara) and young son (Emjay Anthony). ''I'm trying to speak to my audience in the same way that I spoke to them 20 years ago when we were the young whippersnappers,'' said Favreau about his new movie. ''Now we've got careers. It's no longer about finding someone, it's about keeping a relationship going.''

Food truck pioneer Roy Choi spoke to the New York Daily News about how he taught Favreau about being a chef and the resulting passion in the kitchen is which is essential to the film. “Someone who doesn’t grow up in the kitchen would never know how exciting it is to peel shallots or how great water tastes after a rush on the line,” Choi said to The News. “It’s better than a glass of 1950s Bordeaux.”

“Chef,” which opens Friday May 9., also stars Johansson as a sexy hostess and Carl’s bed partner and Dustin Hoffman as a grumpy restaurateur who fires Carl for not churning out boring food for the masses. The food in the movie was actually created by Choi himself. Choi, best known for his Korean-Mexican barbecue taco truck, Kogi in Los Angeles, created the dishes, including Cuban sandwiches specifically ordered up by Favreau. “I wanted to stay true to the classic,” Choi says of his Cubano. “Since the components are all the same — bread, pickle, mustard, Swiss cheese and pork — the only thing I could mess with was the pork, so I decided to make a really good brine and marinade and slow-roast it to add the little X factor to the sandwich.”
