PS4 Vs Xbox One

The Xbox One, PS4 console war ensues in the U.S., as previous generations Xbox 360 and PS3 step out of the picture. How will Microsoft keep up with Sony in a saturated gaming market?

It's a tug-of-war between Microsoft and Sony for the lion's share of the gaming console market; recent sales figures reveal Microsoft's Xbox One is struggling, in spite of attempts to add value to its console. March sales peg PS4 outperforming Xbox One by an estimated 311,000 units in the U.S. "Titanfall," a solid title which came out with Microsoft's flagship device, barely made a dent in Sony's sales. Xbox One was even bundled with the game at an affordable 450 dollars, to no avail.

An affordable price point and added value didn't help the Xbox One in sales, in a market dominated by two consoles. The trend still changes with the months, especially with new game titles coming into the fold. The second quarter is yet to wrap up; several authorities have their say on the situation.

In an article in gamespot.com, Colin Sebastian maintains that the Xbox One is doing well without the comparison to PS4 sales. It's outperforming the Xbox 360 by sixty percent during a similar release period. This doesn't discredit the significance of competition and market perception, though.

Doug Creutz suggests a sharper price cut will help bolster sales for the Xbox One, especially prior to the holiday rush. It's still too early to determine the turnout, even though Microsoft is currently at an obvious disadvantage. Arvind Bhatia suggests Microsoft unbundle the Kinect from every Xbox One purchase, an accessory hardware with lackluster support. Since third-party outfits rarely develop games exclusive to consoles, the competition is no longer focused on game titles, but on the consoles price points and gaming value.

There's still plenty up Microsoft's sleeve, though, to be unveiled at the E3 Event.
