The NBA Rookies Watch for 2014 has been nothing but spectacular. Bagging the 2014 Rookie of the Year honors is the 22-year old Syracuse Orange standout, Michael Carter-Williams, who makes a historical campaign as he becomes the third player in history to lead the stat sheets.

Michael Carter-Williams currently plays the point guard position for the Philadelphia 76ers.

Even as an NCAA Division I player for Syracuse, Michael Carter-Williams has been promising; scoring eight double-double games in points and assists during the 2012-13 season. He also led the nation in assists per game in January 2013; averaging 9.2 per game, making him take the third overall spot for the entire regular season.

Michael Carter-Williams , who is at the spotlight for NBA Rookies watch, has carried over his consistent A-game to the professional league. As a prospect he was the 11th overall draft pick by Philadelphia among the 2013 Draft class.

In his debut game of the season, Carter-Williams dropped an impressive 22 points, 12 assists and nine steals in the stats sheet as he led his team to a 114-110 victory over the defending champions, the Miami Heat. This stellar performance made him the second player next to Shaquille O'Neal to bag the NBA's Eastern Conference Player of the Week honors during his first week in the league, a real feat for an NBA Rookie under watch.

Now, after seven months with the 76ers, the star that is Michael Carter-Williams' has continued to shine brightly. He has become the third player since the 1950-51 Season to lead all rookies in scoring (16.7 ppg), assists (6.2 apg), and rebounds (6.3 rpg), behind Oscar Robertson in the 1960-61 Season, and Alvin Adams in the 1975-76 Season.

Team owner Josh Harris had nothing but good things to say about his star athlete, commending 6'6'' point guard's dedication, professionalism, and contribution to both the team and the city of Philadelphia.

"This is an incredibly proud moment for the 76ers and one we are thrilled to share with him, the city and our fans," Harris said in a statement.

Michael Carter-Williams earned 104 out of 124 first-place votes. Behind him are the Orlando Magic's Victor Oladipo and the Utah Jazz's Trey Burke, who took the second and third place spots, respectively.
