Anderson Silva's comeback is happening by 2015, a report confirmed by "The Spider" himself, after he got the go signal from his doctors. This development finally dismissed the initial reports about a year-end comeback for the longest-reigning UFC middleweight champion.
"The Spider" suffered a nasty broken leg when he faced current champion Chris Weidman in their rematch for the title at UFC 186 in December 2013. Now, after five months of therapy and recovery, Anderson Silva's comeback is certain as he has slowly gotten back on track with regaining his old fighting form.
"I am very excited to be back for training. My doctor in Brazil said my leg is good. I am very happy," Silva said in an interview with Karyn Bryant for MMA Heat. "Next year, I back [sic]."
Anderson Silva's time off from fighting has been productive, so far. He has able to spend more time with his family, a luxury that he has not experienced often when he was still actively fighting.
Despite this, "The Spider" guaranteed that 2015 will be the year of Anderson Silva's comeback, although UFC President Dana White's plans for his supposed 2014 return.
"I back for next year. This year, I no back for fight," said Silva. "I have my plans and family. I am working hard on my academy in Brazil. So, next year"
It is also a known fact that Anderson Silva is a training partner of the current middleweight number one contender, Lyoto Machida, under the renowned Black House stable.
Now that "The Dragon" has gone down to middleweight, a possible clash between him and "The Spider" could be possible in the near future, despite their promise to never fight each other.
But for Lyoto Machida's upcoming fight against Chris Weidman, Anderson Silva had this to say.
"I'm very happy. I see Lyoto training at Black House. Lyoto's very, very good. Good body, good condition. I'm very happy, and very excited for this fight. Lyoto win."
