‘The Giver’ movie trailer is out and looks like Taylor Swift becomes a brunette in the film.
Swift made her feature film acting debut in the 2010 ensemble comedy Valentine's Day, playing the ditzy girlfriend of a high school jock. She has had small roles on television since then, but she is back on the big screen in the highly anticipated film adaptation of ‘The Giver.’ The science fiction film is directed by Phillip Noyce.

‘The Giver’ features some big Hollywood stars, including Alexander Skarsgard, Katie Holmes,Jeff Bridges, Brenton Thwaites, and Odeya Rush. Meryl Streep plays the role of the Community’s Chief Elder, and describes the future’s “utopian” civilizations in the trailer, which can be watched below.

‘The Giver’ is an adaptation of the beloved Young Adult novel by Lois Lowry, which was the winner the 1994 Newbery Medal and has sold over 10 million copies worldwide.

The haunting story of THE GIVER centers on 12 year old Jonas (Thwaites), who lives in a seemingly ideal (without war, pain, suffering, differences or choice) but bland world of conformity and contentment. When he is given his life assignment as the Receiver of Memory, he begins to understand the dark, complex secrets that lurk behind his fragile community from an elderly man, the Giver (Bridges), who helps him realize about the true pain and pleasure of the “real” world.

‘The way things look and the way things are, are very different’ says an ominous voiceover in the trailer. This voiceover may be in reference to the fact that Jonas has the “capacity to see beyond.” Literally, he’s one of the few people in his community who is able to detect color. All the ‘Normals’ are colorblind.

The Giver hits theaters on August 15, 2014.
