Fans of the epic surfing film we're all stoked when they found out that there will be a "Point Break" remake. What got them more excited was when Gerard Butler revealed that he will star in the new film as Bodhi. That character was played by Patrick Swayze in the original film and the "300" actor perfectly fits that role.

Gerard Butler did a movie about surfing in 2012 called "Chasing Mavericks" so spending most of the time in the sea isn't new to him anymore. He even told Collider that he did most of the surfing in that movie except for the big waves.

The Scottish actor was casted to play Bodhi, a surfer who organizes his buddies to rob a bank, in the original film. Gerard's charisma will surely make the character more endearing even if he is a rebel just like what Patrick did with his character in the first movie.

According to reports, "Point Break" remake will start filming this June, but it doesn't have a definite release date yet. Fans of the 44-year old actor are all excited to see Gerard show off his surfing skills, but unfortunately that won't happen.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Gerard Butler has now dropped out of the movie due to a confluence of factors, including creative differences and schedule conflicts." The actor is set to film on location this fall for the sequel of "Olympus Has Fallen" so that could be one of the reasons why he ditched the reboot.

Gerard may have finished the filming of "Point Break" remake by that time, but it will be difficult for him to do ADR and reshoots. It will also be tiring to shoot another film after finishing a film - and both are action-packed too.

Now that we know that Gerard Butler is already out of the "Point Break" remake, who do you think will become the new Bodhi?
