Adrien Broner's latest antics have brought his name to the news headlines once again. The World Boxing Council (WBC) has suspended "The Problem" after his post-fight statements during the interview with Showtime's Jim Gray.

The 24-year old boxer was in his usual brash and outspoken self, following his unanimous decision victory against Mexican-American Carlos Molina. Adrien Broner referred to himself as "Can Man" saying, "Anybody can get it. Afri-cans, I just beat the f--k out of a Mexi-can."

Racism in sports has been in the news as of late. Just a few weeks ago, the NBA imposed a lifetime ban on former Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling after audio recordings of him making racially offensive statements were put out.

Boxing was not an exception from the said issue, and like the NBA, the WBC has decided to take a stern action towards it, through this statement:

"Adrien Broner, former WBC lightweight champion, has offended many persons of the world with his words during the interview after the fight v Molina. The World Boxing Council holds human equality as its banner and will not accept a former WBC champion to make racially offensive statements

Furthermore, the WBC also demanded Adrien Broner to either clarify his statements or issue a public apology. The council also emphasized on what boxing represents as a sport, and that "fair play and human equality must always be upheld."

A number of media figures have expressed their disagreement on the WBC's actions on Adrien Broner, and have pointed out the council's inability to suspend Floyd Mayweather after calling Manny Pacquiao "a little yellow chump" in 2010.

Adrien Broner has gotten a lot of flak because of these said statements, particularly from the Mexican fan base. But for his part, he maintains that he did not disrespect anybody.

In a Youtube video he released, he said, "I'm getting a lot of negative feedback about the comment I said after my last fight. Now, I didn't disrespect no Mexicans. I just called a Mexican a Mexican. I just want to say I love all my Mexicans. I just got to get it out there. I didn't offend nobody. Shout out to Carlos Molina. He was tough."
