PS3 Emulator For PC: RPCS3 is an emulator for Playstation 3 that has made some major steps towards emulating PS3 games. Although this will be considered as nothing major from gamer's part, it's huge progress for a complex project. The team behind it has released a video, showing the PS3 version of Sonic CD running in real-time. Yes, performance is underwhelming but this may be the first 'well-known' commercial PS3 game we're witnessing running.

RPCS3 is an in-development Emulator for Windows, Linux and OS X that would allow PlayStation 3 games to be played on a computer. As of March 9, 2014, the emulator is capable of reaching the title screen of some commercial games and can fully run others. Cinema Blend's William Usher wrote that "A lot of gamers originally thought that the complexity of the PlayStation 3's Cell architecture would have prevented it from being emulated", but the development of RPCS3 shows that emulation is possible, and is moving faster than emulation of the Xbox 360 gaming console.

Before RPCS3, a Wii console emulator called Dolphin had already been released, so RPCS3 was not the first seventh-generation video game console emulator. The March 2014 developments of RPCS3 come shortly after the release of an emulator for the Xbox 360 by the Xenia project, which has made significant advances in Xbox 360 emulation.

As of a March 7, 2014 release, RPCS3 is capable of emulating Arkedo Series - 02 SWAP!, Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice, and some homebrew projects to varying degrees of playability, with several bugs present. Eurogamer's Elio Cossu wrote that the emulation, even at such an early stage, was "a remarkable achievement, considering the complexity of the hardware of the PS3." The emulation suffers from low framerate, but the developers have worked to reduce the bugs present when emulating Arkedo Series - 02 SWAP!. The release features little in way of optimizations, but one of the developers noted that the team is working on a PPU recompiler to help with the speed issue.
