The Watch Dogs release date draws closer, with leaks and reports popping all over the web. The latest involves actual screenshots of the game, taken out of a beta test.
The leaked screenshots is presumed to come out from a Twitch stream of the game, a running beta of the PS4 version. Images of the game map, in-car menu, and actual gameplay are showcased.
The pictures don't deliver in terms of the quality Ubisoft promised; these were downgraded for testing purposes. The developer assures these won't reflect the actual quality of the game when the final, playable version comes out on May 27.
The Watch Dogs release date comes weeks before the E3 Event in June, and will be part of the PS4 and Xbox One's flagship titles already released. The title is also available on PC, as well as on previous-gen consoles PS3 and Xbox 360. A Wii U port will be available later this year.
Ubisoft has confirmed Watch_Dogs is their most pre-ordered title to date. The sandbox-type game combines the mechanics of the Grand Theft Auto series with the stealth and espionage of Metal Gear. Watch_Dogs also holds the record to beat as the year's most pre-ordered game in the industry (gearnuke.com).
Sales and Marketing Vice President Tony Key: "These strong pre-orders are a clear indication of players' anticipation and excitement for Watch Dogs. The teams have worked tirelessly to ensure that players will enjoy a top quality game with enormous scope, and we can't wait to get the game into their hands."
The Watch Dogs release date is the culmination of five and a half years of development. Ubisoft optimized the game for each platform, and the PS4 and Xbox One version comes with different resolutions, frame rates. The PS4 showcases the title with improved specs, giving PlayStation 4 the advantage of a better experience.
