Jim Ross' UFC favorite has been named, and he has chosen Ronda Rousey."Gold Ol' JR" also said that he's picking Renan Barao as the possible winner in the upcoming UFC 173 main event.

The former World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) commentator and one of its most revered figures made the statements on UFC Tonight, hosted by former UFC contender Kenny Florian, and the ever-colorful Chael Sonnen.

"Ronda Rousey is the one fighter that no matter where I go and talk to people about the UFC and my fandom, she is the first thing that is brought up," Ross said. "She is a star. She is extraordinary."

"Good Ol' JR" spent 39 years of his life as the color commentator of the WWE, where he gained much of his fame. In 2007, he was inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame, alongside other wrestling greats like Jerry "The King" Lawler, Dusty Rhodes, and the late Curt "Mr. Perfect" Hennig, among others.

Since his retirement from the WWE in 2013, Jim Ross has been involved with boxing, serving as a commentator for Fox Sports 1's Monday Night Fights under Golden Boy Promotions.

The fight will air on Memorial Day Weekend.

His long-time involvement with the WWE as a commentator has given "Good Ol' JR" some credibility when it comes to his opinions about the fight game.

When Chael Sonnen asked Jim Ross about his UFC 173 main event pick, the 62-year old went for reigning bantamweight champion Renan Barao over challenger T.J. Dillashaw.

"Well Barao is 33-0 right? I like his chances," Ross replied. "But Dillashaw has a shot at taking him down. He would be the first guy to do so."

"But I don't see it happening," he added. "I think Barao wins the fight. But if I was a big-time gambler like Dana White, I'd put some money on the upset.

"I don't think Dillashaw gets it done. I like Barao's game," Ross said, as he ended his statement.
