A "Fantastic Four" reboot news is up and it looks like an onscreen team-up of the "Fantastic Four" and "X-Men" is a possibility, says screenwriter Simon Kinberg.
Kinberg, whose original work includes the most recent "Fantastic Four" reboot of Josh Trank, also wrote three X-Men movies: "X-Men: The Last Stand", "X-Men: Days of Future Past", which was released this week, and an upcoming "X-Men: Apocalypse."
Amidst the production of Trank's "Fantastic Four" reboot, Simon Kinberg spoke to IGN.com about a possible team up between the two superhero teams, but also mentioned that doing so would be a bit of a challenge.
"The tone is slightly different," Kinberg stated. "Part of the challenge of The Fantastic Four vs the X-Men is if the Fantastic Four are in a world where mutants are well-known, then they're not really that Fantastic any more."
"They're just four more people with powers. So we're making a Fantastic Four movie that's just standalone," he continued.
Despite the challenges that he will be potentially facing, Kinberg is actually welcoming the idea of merging the "Fantastic Four" and the "X-Men."
"I can see anything happening in comic book movies in the future, given where it's come over the span of the last 10 years," Kinberg said. "Ten years ago when I was working on X3 there was no Marvel Studios."
"There weren't three superhero movies that came out a year. There was no sense of a larger tapestry that was being built over multiple movies. So honestly, in terms of storytelling, I think anything is possible," he added.
The "Fantastic Four" reboot will be hitting the theatres on June 2015. It stars Miles Teller who plays the role of Reed Richards, a.k.a Mister Fantastic, Jamie Bell as Ben Grimm a.k.a Thing, Kate Mara as Sue Storm, a.k.a the Invisible Woman, and Michael B. Jordan as Johnny Storm, a.k.a Human Torch.
