Katharine McPhee and husband Nick Cokas are getting divorced. The ‘Smash’ actress filed for divorce last week. She caused quite a stir last year when she was spotting making out with her ‘Smash’ director Michael Morris, who is still married to his wife. McPhee can be seen next in the CBS show ‘Scorpion’ where she plays Paige, a working-class hero and diner waitress who understands geniuses.

McPhee is claiming that she was separated from her husband last year when she publicly made out with Morris, according to TMZ. TMZ has obtained McPhee's divorce documents and she lists her date of separation from husband Nicholas Cokas as March 15, 2013, more than 7 months before she openly kissed married "Smash" director Michael Morris.

McPhee also cites irreconcilable differences in the documents as reasons for divorce. She wants to keep all the money she made post-separation, which might explain why she picked such an early separation date.

The “American Idol” singer is signed on for the CBS drama pilot “Scorpion,” also starring Robert Patrick (“True Blood”), Elyes Gabel and Eddie Kaye Thomas. The show comes from Nick Santora (“Prison Break,” “Vegas”) and Nicholas Wootton (“NYPD Blue”).

“Scorpion” is a show about an eccentric genius Walter O'Brien aka Scorpion (Elyes Gabel) and his international network of super-geniuses, who form the last line of defense against the complex threats of the modern age. McPhee is set up to star as Paige, a working-class hero and diner waitress who understands geniuses. Justin Lin (“Fast & Furious”) is directing the pilot. Sleepy Hollow creators Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci will executive-produce the project.

According to the first look trailer for “Scorpion,” the show is based on a true story. Walter has an IQ of 197, versus Einstein’s IQ of 165. The trailer opens with Scorpion as a kid hacking into government files.
