Microsoft Xbox One Exclusives Streamed In Japan; After Polls Reveal Dismal Results; Unsatisfactory Rating Credited To Preference For Competing Console Platforms

Several Microsoft Xbox One exclusives were leaked prior to streaming, much-anticipated but fell short of expectations.

Credible (and confirmed) leaks of live-stream exclusives for the Xbox One were announced hours prior to release. The content involved streams of "Chaos; Child, PSYCHO-PASS: Psychopaths" and "Mistereet F Tantei-Tachi no Katenkoru".

Both are visual novels, interactive games based on popular Japanese series. "Chaos; Child" follows up on a previous release ("Chaos; Head NOA"); set six years in the aftermath of the first installment, "Chaos; Child" delves on "scientific delusions" through a psychological suspense story.

Producer Makoto Asada takes credit for "PSYCHO-PASS: Psychopaths and Mistereet F," one of Microsoft Xbox One exclusives. PSYCHO-PASS is a new game based on the anime series, and it will maximize use of the Kinect and Smartglass (dualshockers.com).

"Mistereet F" is a bundle of two games, the classic "Mistereet ya Togami Kaoru no Chosen" and the new installment "Mistereet 2." The titles are presently Microsoft Xbox One exclusives, to be confirmed if ported to competing console platforms.

The content was made available Japan-wide through the Nico Nico video portal. A satisfaction poll conducted right after the stream reveal the live-cast didn't meet audience expectations.

Stats ranged from unsatisfactory to downright dismal; an overwhelming 66.5% of viewers were displeased with the stream, one of Nico Nico's worst in several years. On-screen comments rolled with strings of "www," which is the Japanese counterpart for LOL.

12.8% of viewers ranked the stream as very good, while 50% ranked it as downright bad. The results could be interpreted in light of the Japanese market's preference for the PlayStation and its generation of consoles.

The Xbox One and 360 received their share of visual novels, and the Japanese market is cozy with the genre. The disappointing ratings can be considered a minor achievement for the Microsoft console, but will likely hurt the titles if developers decide these remain as Microsoft Xbox One exclusives.
