Michael Schumacher update reports reveal that the former Formula One champion's health status as he enters his 150th day in a medically induced coma as medical experts claim his chances of full recovery gets slimmer by the day.
"Schumi" was involved in a near-fatal skiing accident at the French Alps in December 2013, wherein he hit his head on a boulder about 34 feet down the mountain.
Although he is currently under intensive care and observation at the Grenoble University Hospital in France, medical experts say that the 45-year old F1 legend's full recovery is getting slimmer by the day.
In a report by British online news publication Express, Dr. Andreas Zieger of the Evangelical Hospital's neuro-rehabilitation clinic says that the longer time he spends in the coma further decreases his chances of full recovery.
"You can never tell how quickly a patient with a brain injury is going to wake up," Zieger explained. "But the longer the recovery phase, one must conclude, means that the brain damage suffered must have been very serious."
Michael Schumacher's wife Corrina, along with 17-year old daughter Gina Marie and 14-year old son Mick have been keep a close eye on their family patron since the day of the accident, and still hopeful for some good news.
But more experts in the neurological field are still skeptic about any positive development. French neurological professor Philippe Azouvi spoke to Munich's Focus Magazine about Michael Schumacher's chances of recuperation.
"The only thing we can say is that, statistically, 30 percent of patients recover well from a severe brain injury, mild impairment affects 50 percent of them and 20 percent of them suffer from severe disabilities and remain dependent on constant help," Azouvi declared.
Former Formula One doctor Gary Harstein also gave his two cents about the matter.
"The longer that he is in the coma, the more improbable it is that he will recover from it," he said.
