Capcom has yet to disclose definitive Resident Evil 7 news, but the crumbs of clues left on social media and on forums reveal the next installment is just beyond the horizon.
Answers may even be closer than expected, with a much anticipated event just waiting around the corner. June 9's E3 Event answers a lot of questions, confirms or debunks a lot of rumors as well.
Capcom is relatively quiet with its new installment in the Resident Evil franchise, in the aftermath of gamers' disappointment with the previous trilogy of games (motoringcrunch.com). It is speculated the new game is returning to its roots, with old and familiar characters returning to the fold.
Most of the Resident Evil 7 news are sourced from industry insiders, and still awaits confirmation from Capcom executives and developers. Reports of the title as exclusively available to the Xbox One has been denied, though (gamersyndrome.com).
Industry insider Thuway refers to other flagship titles in reference to the reports: "I expect two bombshells at MS's conference, and one at Sony's. At least that's what I'm hearing on the exclusive's end. Technically, the other bombshells have been announced. Xbox One $399, Halo Guardians + Halo Journey. They got two others."
Capcom's action-horror game wasn't mentioned as part of the Xbox One's roster of exclusives. It's possible that Sony and Microsoft platforms will release their own Resident Evil 7 news by the time E3 opens its doors.
Capcom released a Facebook app for the title earlier this month. Such strategies are usually milestone markers, either indicative of an anniversary or the release of something new and groundbreaking (gamingbolt.com).
Voice actors to the first Resident Evil trilogy was quoted in comments, that they were working on something new. Notable are the voice actors of Hunnigan and Leon. Confirmation of leaked and speculative Resident Evil 7 news should be available when Capcom decides to break the silence with an official tease.
