Movie star Penelope Cruz was recently seen sporting a pixie hair in the "Ma Ma" set shot in Madrid while wearing a baggy purple plaid shirt and blue jeans.

US Magazine said movie star Penelope Cruz was almost "unrecognizable" in her new haircut. But the report clarified that it's just a wig to hide her iconic long locks.

Javier Bardem's wife was also spotted donning the pixie wig while talking to the crew in between scenes. During rest hours, she also spends time with her daughter Luna.

Before her scene where she had to wear the extremely short wig, the 40-year-old actress was seen wearing a pale silk dress and a full-blown make-up in her face in her first day of taping in Madrid this week. She arrived in the clad jeans, shirt and flip-flops.

"Ma Ma," a story of a mother battling with life's tragedies, is movie star Penelope Cruz's first film in a Spanish-language in almost five year where she is also a producer together with her husband Javier Bardem.

"The Counselor" star plays the lead role as Magda who is said to "live unsuspected scenes of humor and of delicate happiness," according to its press release.

Javier Bardem's wife is working with Spanish director Julio Medem who made "Sex and Lucia," and "Room in Rome."

The DailyMail reports that Penelope Cruz had recently admitted her plans of veering away from acting and focusing on production.

In an interview with Variety, Cruz said "I want to build what could be my future in cinema, not always being in front of the camera."

"I want to build what could be my future in cinema, not always being in front of the camera. I'd also like to direct a feature, maybe 10 years from now," she added.

Currently, Cruz loves directing commercials and video-clips and slowly learning the whole production process.
