False alarms of The Last Guardian release date has fans confused if the title will ever see the light of day.
Sony has to do some damage control with conflicting reports on The Last Guardian. The title is much-anticipated ever since it was first teased to the E3 crowd in 2009.
Five years into the future and the game apparently remains under development. One of the worst-case scenarios would involve a complete halt in development, and in the previous few days prior to E3 rumors of the title missing its mark circulated.
A trusted authority in the gaming community recently leaked information The Last Guardian release date was cancelled, for good. It was unverified information which fortunately wasn't true.
The game is still set for release, but Sony is relatively tight-lipped about the details. It's also far from revealing any updates on development (gamespot.com).
Shuhei Yoshida of Sony accommodated an interview, and he expressed disappointment at the rumors that circulated prior to E3 2014: "There were a difficult couple of days before the show - I'm sure you noticed. I'm so happy it was retracted before the show happened. Lots of people tweeted me they were heartbroken by that news. People are going through this roller coaster of emotions, and it's our fault for not releasing the game, yet."
Concerning The Last Guardian release date, Yoshida tests the patience of clamoring fans yet again. "We owe a lot to those people, but we really don't want to release piecemeal information until we can say this is The Last Guardian - so we ask you to wait."
The game jumpstarted development as early as 2006, after Shadow of the Colossus was released. Sony followed up with a teaser trailer in 2009, without any hint of The Last Guardian release date. The project was ambitious and demanded more than the available technology at the time. Sony is yet to confirm anything solid, keeping fans and the industry lying in wait (craveonline.com).
