Japan's Final Fantasy Explorers for 3DS is about to reach the west part of the globe! Reports confirm that Square-Enix Holdings Co, Ltd. already filed trademarks in the US Patent and Trademark Office and Europe's Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market.

The action role-playing video game featuring single-player and multiplayer modes (maximum of four) was first revealed by Jump Magazine in early June 2014. As per Game Spot, Explorers is an RPG that involves search for crystals and battles with monsters and summons including the classic Ifrit, the fire elemental creature present in several series entries, as well as Bahamut.

Party members may choose from a variety of Final Fantasy classes and characters like Black Mage, Monk, White Mage, Paladin, Dragoon and Knight. Each character may use a maximum of eight skills in every battle and learn more skills for certain jobs.

Far from other narrative-driven entries in the Final Fantasy series, Explorers is patterned after a quest-driven structure similar to Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles and Capcom's Monster Hunter series. Like these two, Explorers can be broken down into two parts: exploration and combat.

Based on Gematsu's translation of Square Enix's update on the game, Explorers revolves around the titular group of adventurers from the rural town of Libertas, the home base of the story. These explorers hunt for crystals, which are considered sources of energy needed to develop civilizations. The most powerful crystals can be found in the island of Amostra, where in explorers must surpass fearsome beasts.

Players can also train monsters after taming ones they've defeated in battles, and Crunch Roll says that any of the four available player slots can be assigned with monsters to help humans win their quest.

Famitsu spills that the game will be about 100 to 200 hours long and describes it as a "lite" version of Final Fantasy XI or XIV.

Currently, no definite release date has been announced yet.
