Henry Cavill girlfriend Gina Carano's return as an MMA fighter is reportedly delayed. SB Nation cited a report from Ariel Helwani that the discussion to sign the former face of Women's MMA to a UFC fight was apparently "stalled". It was stated that negotiations aren't completely dead yet, but it looks like the deal will not be closed any time soon.

According to MMA Fighting website, "both sides still wish to work together, but as of this writing, Carano's Strikeforce contract has expired." The actress is now a free-agent and she can look elsewhere if she so desires.

Gina Carano made history when her fight with Cristiane "Cyborg" Justino became the first women's main event of a major MMA card. Carano hasn't fought since that Strikeforce title loss in 2009.

Carano has recently focused on a career in films and television, but this past month, UFC President Dana White said a deal was possible.

"Her lawyers and our lawyers are talking. It's moving along. It should (happen). I mean this guy is a Hollywood lawyer and these guys are always a pain in the ass to deal with. The shit that he calls back and says everyday is literally comical," White commented at the UFC 174 media scrum.

Reportedly, Laercio Fernandes, a black belt under Givanildo Santana and multiple-time jiu-jitsu champion has been teaching Carano for a year in California. The "In The Blood" star's jiu-jitsu coach is confident that she has what it takes to be back in action if that's what she wants to do. According to her trainer, Carano is back to working out, but not eying a UFC bout at the moment.

"She's doing great. She trains well, but she has a lot of things to do, like interviews and movies. I always tell her 'no pressure, do what you want to do. When you feel in your heart, you'll know if you want to fight or not'. She has a big heart," Fernandes told the site MMA Fighting.
