It will just premiere this July 13 on FX, but Guillermo del Toro already set when to end the TV series adaptation of his and writer Chuck Hogan's "The Strain".

The 13-episode vampire horror TV series will start on the investigation on a plane that landed in New York City wherein all the passengers are mysteriously dead. The first episode "Night Zero" was penned by Hogan and directed by Del Toro. Viewers will see "Law & Order: LA" actor Corey Stoll to play the lead male character Dr Ephraim Goodweather.

Goodweather is the head of Centers for Disease Control's (CDC) rapid response team, which is called upon to solve the mystery behind the death of the passengers. Those who haven't read the novel would think how this TV series becomes a vampire horror story. While the main plot may remain to not take away the original story of the novel, Del Toro said that the TV series will not religiously follow what's written in "The Strain" trilogy.

"With the TV show, if we see an actor we like, he lives longer. We've taken liberties with that. We're hitting the big guideposts of the book, but I never hold the book up and say, 'Dammit, the book was different' because I know that you want to recognize the book but you don't want exactly the same experience," he said to BuzzFeed.

He also added that the three novels will be enough for five seasons in the TV, saying that, "But then it ends. We will not go beyond the fifth season. I don't want this to be a show that stays on until it's not successful. I would like it to end the way the books are mapped. I don't want to spoil, but we are going to do what we do at the end of the second book at the end of the second season - we will do that big finale. We know where we're going and it's exciting."
