The latest Ryan Gosling news that came out earlier today claim that he and co-star Rachel McAdams were not in good terms on first sight of their set in "The Notebook". On screen, it looked like they were having fantastic chemistry. However, according to Nick Cassavetes, the director of the chart-topping romantic movie, the Gosling-McAdams tandem was nearly dissolved during the early stages of filming.
Cassavetes said that Gosling actually approached him in private to attempt to convince him to get rid of McAdams and replace her with someone else. During his exclusive interview with VH1, he talked about some problems that he had during the production stage of the film, particularly ones that occurred between the movie's love team.
Before Gosling and McAdams went out on dates in real life, they just could not get along with one another on the set. Cassavetes shared, "Maybe I'm not supposed to tell this story, but they were really not getting along one day on set. Really not. And, Ryan came to me, and there's 150 people standing in this big scene, and he says, 'Nick, come here.' And he's doing a scene with Rachel and he says, 'Would you take her out of here and bring in another actress to read off camera with me?' I said, 'What?' He says, 'I can't. I can't do it with her. I'm just not getting anything from this.'"
Moreover, he even shared that Gosling and McAdams even had a time when they were screaming at each other despite the presence of the other members of the production crew. Cassavetes shared, "We went into a room with a producer, they started screaming and yelling at each other. And, it got better after that. They had it out. I think Ryan respected her for standing up for her character and Rachel was happy to get that out in the open."
After "The Notebook" hit the big screen in 2004, Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams were spotted on several dates from 2005 to 2007.
