When the iPhone 5 first appeared, it became the most talked about device. This is due to the fact that the iPhone 5 was equipped with a bigger screen. Then, there is the Samsung Galaxy S4 which came not long later and it immediately became the world's most powerful smartphone.
Today, both devices are considered to be old already but they are still a cheap escape from the more expansive Samsung Galaxy S5 and the iPhone 5S. The Galaxy S4 is being sold for as low as $423. This is cheaper than the iPhone 5's $490 price tag but does it mean that it is better?
Both devices run on their latest OS. The iPhone 5 will soon get the iOS 8 update and the Galaxy S4 had just been updated to the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat.
In terms of display, the iPhone 5 is equipped with a 4" Retina display which produces 326ppi. On the other hand, there is the Samsung Galaxy S4 which features a 4.99" Super AMOLED display which produces 441ppi.
Under the casing, the iPhone 5 runs on a 1.2GHz Apple A6 processor with 1GB RAM, 8MP rear camera, 1.2MP front shooter and a 1440mAh battery. By far, the iPhone 5 is so underpowered. On top of that, the battery is so weak that the iPhone 5 can get useless.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 on the other hand, runs on the 1.6GHz Exynos Octa 5410 processor that offers 8-cores. This is accompanied by a 2GB RAM, GPU 533M, 13MP rear camera, 2MP front shooter and a whopping 2,600mAh battery.
Obviously, the better choice here is the Samsung Galaxy S4. It is fast, powerful and reliable. The all-rounder device is packed with so many functions that totally beat the iPhone 5.
