Jens Pulver news features "Lil' Evil's" formal announcement of retiring from mixed martial arts competition, shortly after his former long-time rival BJ Penn made his own declaration about hanging up the gloves for good.

In a report by MMA Heat, the inaugural UFC lightweight champion elaborated his reasons behind his intent to walk away from the sport after 15 years of active competition.

"I hear everyone saying 'time to retire', this and that," he said explaining the Jens Pulver news. "I just refused to announce it or say it, but I think I've said it like three times already today."

"I'm done. I mean, I'm done," he added. "I think most people are like 'I thought you were done like 5 years ago?' But the reality is I am."

Jens Pulver had a storied mixed martial arts career, fighting in the most prominent promotion companies in the world, such as the UFC, World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC), PRIDE FC, and ONE Fighting Championships (ONE FC), among others. He holds a record of 27-19, and 1 draw.

At 38 years of age, "Lil' Evil" deemed himself incapable of fighting professionally, but like every fighter his age, family has become the utmost priority.

"I would like to continue doing that, but above all, I want to raise my kids," Pulver said. "Be around with my kids, and be a better dad than my dad was, you know how that is, so that's what I am doing."

Jens Pulver news also reveals that "Lil' Evil's" formal exit from fighting does not mean he is completely closing his doors on MMA.

"I want to commentate," he said. "I got to do Cage Warriors, and I get to do that again in Ireland on August. I love commentating. You know me, I love to talk. It's the best seat in the house, and you get to have opinions, I love it!"

Jens Pulver coached alongside BJ Penn for the 5th edition of The Ultimate Fighter series. While both men were once bitter rivals, "Lil' Evil" has managed to bury the hatchet and show respect to who is considered as of the greatest fighters of all time.

"I got my BJ Penn shirt," Pulver said. "I'm rooting for BJ."
