CW's "The Originals" season 2 is currently in production for its fall premiere. The network recently announced its comeback on October 6 along with the return of other primetime shows.
Writers of the "The Vampire Diaries" spinoff promises more violence for this new season, as they steer the series into a "dark" direction.
"You know it's a good day in the room when everyone shakes their heads a pitch and says 'that's really dark, but it's great' #TheOriginals," the writers wrote on Twitter on June 30.
The show's cast and crew, including producer Julie Pec and actress Leah Pipes, who plays "Cammie," have called the up-coming new season "epic," reports Enstars.
Returning director, Jeffery Hunt, has also been updating fans through Twitter, posting pictures of the set and behind-the-scenes action. He also posted a scene involving a 20-men stunt team for an assuredly bloody fight sequence.
Hunt has directed three episodes each of "The Orginals" and "The Vampire Diaries." He will also reportedly helm "The Originals" season 2's first and fourth episodes.
In a March interview with The Paley Center For Media, producer Julie Pec and some of the cast and crew talked about the abundance of blood and gore in the series.
Pec admitted that although viewers have been seeing "heads ripped off, hearts ripped out," "The Originals" season 2 will be controlling sexuality on the show.
Pipes, or "Cammie" in the series, shares an experience while filming where she apparently had to "thrust" for a particularly intimate scene. Producers eventually decided to cut it in the final edit.
"And you will never see the thrusting..." Pipes added. "I've scarred the writers for life."
Pec further assured the audience that violence will be where they'll draw the line for the primetime show.
Season one ended with the birth of Klaus and Hailey's hybrid baby in a not so happy note, setting the premise of more deaths, deceit, and destruction for the next season.
"The Originals" season 2 will be back on October 6 at 8 pm.
