Argentina finally reached the World Cup final after besting Netherlands in the semi-final match shootout 4-2. This was the first time since 1990. Now the South American team is about to come face-to-face with Germany on Sunday at the Maracana in Rio.

It was a goalless 120 minutes unlike the match between host Brazil and Germany where goal after goal was scored. This was the first game in World Cup that ended goalless. Messi did not even touch the ball in the Dutch penalty area the entire 120 minutes. Nevertheless, Argentina prevailed and will be repeating history playing off with West Germany in the finals. Ahead of the kick-off, Argentine supporters were hopeful that their team will bring home their fifth World Cup title.

The match started off dull especially for the supporters and the fact that it rained during the game made it even drearier. It was until the shootout that the excitement for both teams and supporters raised in a colossal level. Argentina striker Gonzalo Higuain prodded the game's best chance into side-netting. It was, still, a poor game. A poor level for the semi-final of the World Cup. People-supporters and plain spectators-however, are hopeful that the final would be better.

The teams surely have different ways of making history-for Brazil, this year was their worst nightmare; but Argentina begs to differ. La Albiceleste is Brazil's greatest rival and it would definitely be a shame seeing them advance to the championship. Among the final four, Argentina, without doubt is the juggernaut given the luster that they have shown from the beginning of the tournament.
