The 66th Primetime Emmy Awards 2014 nominees list was recently released.
According to a report from entertainment site TooFab, the official list of Emmy Awards 2014 nominees was announced by Carson Daly, host of "The Voice," and Mindy Kaling, lead star of the Fox comedy "The Mindy Project".
Frontrunner
The clear frontrunner with 19 nominations for Emmy Awards 2014 is the hit fantasy saga "Game of Thrones". The HBO series' nominations include Best Drama Series, Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for Peter Dinklage, and Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for Lena Headey.
Now on it's final season, fan favorite "Breaking Bad" recieved 16 nominations, including Best Drama Series. Lead actor Bryan Cranston is also nominated for Best Actor in a Drama Series.
Other frontrunner shows that received most nominations include the miniseries "Fargo" with 18 nominations, "American Horror Story: Coven," with 17 Emmy bids, and AIDS drama "The Normal Heart" with 16 nods.
Another popular nominee is the prison-set drama-comedy "Orange is the New Black". Reviews pointed out that this Netflix "hybrid" series could have been entered in either the drama or comedy category. The show is nominated for Best Comedy Series along with "Modern Family", "The Big Bang Theory", "Louie", "Silicon Valley", and "Veep". Lead actress Taylor Schilling is also nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy Series.
Snubbed? Primetime Emmy Awards 2014 letdowns.
While a lot of TV fanatics are celebrating the Emmy bids, some fans pointed out non-nominees that should've gotten more love from the 66-year award giving body.
In a post-nomination review released by CBS News, hit drama "The Good Wife" was among the surprise non-nominees snubbed in the Best Drama Series category. Howvever, the show's stars Julianna Margulies, Josh Charles and Christine Baranski received acting nods.
Although James Spader of "The Blacklist" was nominated for the Golden Globes, his portrayal of Red in the said drama series was surprisingly unable to earn him a Best Dramatic Actor nomination.
Playing numerous clones in "Orphan Black", Tatiana Maslany is also said to be one of the Emmy letdowns for this year. The cult-hit series got snubbed, much to the dismay of its "#CloneClub" fanatics.
