LeBron James has decided to go home. James, a 10-time All-Star has sealed the deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers as a free agent. This means that he has chosen to have a reunion with the team that he left four years ago. LeBron James made his official announcement regarding this matter in a report for Sports Illustrated.
James has decided to leave Miami Heat, which he also joined as a free agent back in 2010. With this particular team, he was able to win two NBA titles, and was able to reach the NBA Finals four times in a row. This latest decision of his to return to the Cavs could have a bit of a seismic effect across the entire NBA.
In the Sports Illustrated essay, James mentioned that his close relationship with his home state was a very strong influencing factor for his decision. He said, "My relationship with Northeast Ohio is bigger than basketball. I didn't realize that four years ago. I do now."
He also mentioned that he is presently focused on winning a championship for his home team. With LeBron James decision, this could be the end of Miami Heat's running as a championship contender.
Back when LeBron James jilted Cleveland, he was called a coward, a quitter, a narcissist, and even disloyal. It was not surprising that the owner of the Cavs, Dan Gilbert, felt this way regarding James since he felt bad about his team being left behind. In fact, it was Gilbert who lost that infamous letter that blasted James for choosing Miami Heat over his team.
Now, however, with LeBron James returning to Gilbert's team, he made sure that his previous issue with Gilbert was resolved first. Regarding this matter, LeBron James said, "I've met with Dan, face-to-face, man-to-man. We've talked it out. Everybody makes mistakes. I've made mistakes as well. Who am I to hold a grudge?"
