Gina Carano news reveals the possible hindrance of "Conviction's" UFC signing, mainly due to her commitments as an actress.

Just a week ago, UFC President Dana Whte spoke to Brett Okamoto of ESPN about his intent on fast-tracking the signing of former Strikeforce number one featherweight contender Gina Carano.

"One down, one to go," White said about the Gina Carano news. "I'm going to meet with Gina next week and get that f---ing thing done. Next week, man."

"It's just a matter of me and Lorenzo going to jump on a plane to Los Angeles, get in a room with her and her lawyer and get this thing done," he added.

However, it has been recently revealed that adding "Conviction" to the UFC's roster of female fighters may be more complicated than expected. Jeremy Botter of Sports Illustrated explained the situation through his Twitter account.

"Gina Carano to the UFC is not as much of a lock as I thought it was yesterday," Botter tweeted about the Gina Carano news. "Movie conflicts. Studio has to sign off."

Gina Carano last fought in 2009, in a title bout against Cristianne "Cyborg" Justino, where she lost via first round TKO. She was slated for a comeback in 2011, but was unable to do so due to injuries.

Since her hiatus from professionally competing in mixed martial arts, "Conviction" has focused on her new found acting career, appearing in Hollywood titles such as "Haywire," "Fight Girls", and "Fast & Furious 6."

She also appeared in the television series "American Gladiators."

Botter clarified, however, that the deal between Gina Carano and the UFC is not yet closed.

"Not to say it won't get done," Botter wrote. "Just that more forces are at play than just Dana negotiating with her agent. Not as simple."

Gina Carano's entry into the UFC automatically puts her in line to fight reigning champion "Rowdy" Ronda Rousey. Rotter pointed out that this could be one of the reasons why this deal may not push through, especially if "Conviction" ends up losing.

"Studio worried that losing to Ronda will hurt Gina's action hero allure," Botter tweeted. "And yeah, it would."
