Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale announced Monday July 15 that he will officially be part of "The Voice" for this season. The rock and roll heartthrob will join the singing competition as mentor for wife Gwen Stefani's team, according to a report from People magazine.
"This fall, honored to be part of #TheVoice w/ the lovely & talented @gwenstefani," Rossdale, 48, wrote.
The proud wife of Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale also took to Twitter her enthusiasm for her husband. "it's official! so excited to have @GavinRossdale on #TeamGwen", she said.
Season 7 of "The Voice" will begin on Sept. 22 on NBC.
Stefani has been the frontwoman for punk-rock band No Doubt for 28 years, and will join "The Voice" this season to fill in for Christina Aguilera. The latter has taken a break from the show in preparation for the arrival of her daughter with fiancé Matt Rutler.
Rossdale said in an interview for Access Hollywood: "I don't know how (me joining "The Voice") came about, but it was just one of those things (where) the idea was mentioned. I wasn't even sure who was mentioning it - and then it came around to, 'So, next week, you ready? You are gonna come and do this'?"
Rossdale admitted that his role as Team Gwen mentor will surely cause "a lot of pressure".
"That's their whole life right this moment! So I felt really responsible," Rossdale expressed.
He adds, "The main thing, from my perspective, is just to make sure that Gwen is so good and excellent like all the other judges on the show".
Stefani is confident that Rossdale will be able to fulfill his mentoring duties for Team Gwen: "He is super articulate and he has a really good opinion and he is smart and he's been doing a really good job".
Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale and Stefani also celebrated last February the birth of their newest baby, Apollo Bowie Flynn. The two have been married for almost 12 years and have 3 sons.
