Kristen Wiig is one funny woman. She's known for her brilliant comedy in SNL and the 2011 hit movie, Bridesmaids.
But now the Saturday Night Live alum is ready to explore an entirely different genre-drama.
"I was introduced to the world as a cast member of 'SNL', but I've always wanted to do dramatic stuff, to write and direct, do a lot of different things," she confesses to Elle magazine, where she's the cover girl for their August 2014 issue. "Comedy is where my heart lies, but there's something really satisfying about being able to step away with a small crew, become a character and get to know her for a few months at a time."
The 40-year-old actress is probably alluding to her upcoming projects, The Skeleton Twins and Welcome to Me, where she portrays Alice Klieg, a woman with borderline personality disorder who wins millions in the lottery, and stops taking her medication to start her own talk show.
It was a role that forced her to really push herself into new territory, and immerse herself in the character, even if it meant baring her all-literally.
"I'd never read a character like that!" she continues in the interview. "I got to a scene where it read, 'She's fully naked,' and I remember thinking: If I do this movie, I have to do this scene, because it's really important to this script."
Well, Wiig looks sizzling hot so she'll totally rock that scene!
Meanwhile, in Skeleton Twins, which is set to premiere this September, the actress reunites with fellow SNL member Bill Hader. The drama is about twins, Maggie and Milo, who independently cheat death on the same day, and are forced to reunite and confront the reasons why their lives went wrong.
Wiig's other movie, Welcome to Me, comes out later this year.
