Sergio Martinez's next fight has no definite date yet, but his camp says he is "100% ready" to make a ring return soon as his promoter claims that "Maravilla" needs to prove himself again after his recent loss.

In a report by Bad Left Hook, "Maravilla's" advisor Sampson Lewkowicz declared that his client would not retire, despite the disappointing loss he has incurred in the hands of the current Lineal middleweight champion Miguel Cotto.

"Miguel De Pablos (Martinez's business manager) and I met with Sergio at his home in Madrid and he says he is 100 percent healthy and ready to do what it takes to return to the very top of boxing," Lewkowicz confirmed. "Against Cotto, Sergio was badly hurt in the opening round from the first left hook that landed. After that, he remembers only pieces and had very little control of his body and especially his legs."

"Maravilla" was outclassed by his opponent, as he was knocked down twice in the early goings before the fight was stopped in the seventh round. For Lewkowicz, Sergio Martinez simply had an off-night.

"He fought entirely on instinct," Lewkowicz added. "It was the worst night of his entire career and he is coming back to prove he is a superstar fighter who just had a bad night."

Sergio Martinez's next fight has yet to have a date determined, and in the mean time, his promoter Lou DiBella is looking to make sure that before "Maravilla" steps inside the ring once again, he should be in tip-top shape.

"The first thing we want to do is make sure he sees a good orthopedist and then we'll see, but Sergio is a big boy," DiBella said. "He's self aware. He has the right to decide when he continues and when he gets out."

Sergio Martinez's next fight will determine if he can still compete at the top-level in the sport of boxing. DiBella also believes that his fighter needs to prove himself again, despite being a former champion.

"If he doesn't look to be the same fighter anymore, I will be the first to admit it, but he deserves the chance to prove it was just an off-night (against Cotto) in an otherwise stellar career," DiBella added.
