Viewers have been used to drastic twists in live action adaptions of classic fairy tales. "Maleficent" took on the evil witch's point of view. "Snow White And The Huntsman" had a grittier, darker turn. "Oz The Magnificent" also took on a more unconventional retelling of the fictional world.
On the other hand, Kenneth Branagh's "Cinderella" movie will not stray far from the original story, MoviePilot reports. The live action will closely follow Charles Perrault's 1697 novel, "Cendrillon."
The film, however, will get a fresh take by adapting the perspective of "Kit," Ella's "Prince Charming."
"Prince Charming" who has been dubbed "Kit" in the new "Cinderella" movie, will be played by "Game Of Thrones'" Richard Madden. He will meet Ella (Downtown Abbey's Lily James) in the woods before the actual ball. Ella then befriends him, mistaking him for one of the palace helps instead of the actual crown prince.
Madden will have no problem portraying Ella's prince with his previous experience as the ill-fated but beloved Robb Stark. His character, nicknamed "King In The North," portrayed his noble and just judgment as a ruler in the phenomenal HBO TV series, "Game Of Thrones."
Aside from Madden and James, the "Cinderella" movie will also be headlined by other talented actors and actresses, including Cate Blanchette who will take on the evil stepmother role. Holliday Grainger and Sophie McSherra as the wicked stepsisters Anastacia and Drizella, as well as Helena Bonham Carter as Ella's Fairy Godmother.
Stellan Skarsgard will make an appearance as Grand Duke, while Derek Jacobi will be the King. Nonzo Anosie will be the Captain, and Hayley Atwell and Ben Chaplin will be Cinderella's real parents.
The Walt Disney studio is also planning to make a live action adaptation of another fairy tale, "Beauty And The Beast," as well as the classic favorite, "Dumbo."
Aline Brosh McKenna and Chris Weitz will write the film's screenplay.
The "Cinderella" movie is expected to hit cinemas worldwide on March 13, 2015.
