Tito Ortiz's lawsuit drama against former trainer John Ibarra has escalated, as the MMA champion earned support from other UFC fighters, said a report from TMZ Sports.
Tito Ortiz's lawsuit backers include huge names in mixed martial arts and boxing, such as Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, Oscar Dela Hoya, Michael Bisping, and Vitor Belfort.
The Tito Ortiz's lawsuit against his former trainer began when John Ibarra, a popular MMA and boxing trainer, filed a defamation case against his former ward. In the case, John Ibarra has accused Tito Ortiz of spreading "false and damaging accusations about him in the media.
Tito Ortiz had allegedly called his former trainer a "thief" who had ""taken advantage of Rampage," all of which have been claimed by John Ibarra as false and "have seriously damaged his reputation in the fighting community."
A previous report from Yahoo! Sports stated that John Ibarra also initially filed a case against Rampage Jackson, whom the trainer claimed had called him a "thief" and a "liar," by accusing him of allegedly making $30,000 in "camp money disappear."
Rampage reportedly filed a cross-complaint and claimed that he and John Ibarra had agreed not to sue each other when they ended their training partnership. Rampage's lawyers said Ibarra "took out of context" certain comments made by their client.
On the other hand, Tito Ortiz has responded by submitting to court a witness list containing names of people who have trained with John Ibarra in the past. This is on top of a sworn declaration clarifying that his comments about John Ibarra were just an example of the trash talking that is common in MMA, and were not meant as defamatory.
While no explanation has been given as to how the star fighters will actually help in the Tito Ortiz lawsuit against his former trainer, it is likely that they will support the comebacking fighter's claims about how Ibarra took advantage of fighters that he has trained.
