With the TJ Dillashaw vs. Renan Barao rematch happening in a month, the reigning batamweight champion has already spoken up about his upcoming fight saying that he will again.
"The Viper" spoke to Brazilian news outlet Sexto Round, addressing his concerns about his first fight against Renan Barao, and what he intends to do for their rematch.
"No matter what I'm going to have to do something different," Dillashaw explained. "I want to become a better fighter every fight. That's not my best performance, I'm going to get even better from that fight."
The TJ Dillashaw vs. Renan Barao rematch is scheduled for August 30th at UFC 177, in Sacramento, California. Their first meeting saw a more dominant performance from "The Viper", who emerged victorious via a fifth round knockout.
For the 28-year old champion, his successful run for the title seemed like a surreal experience, which he still deems unbelievable up to this point.
"I've watched the fight a couple times and everytime I get nervous before I watch it, even though I know how it's going to go down," Dillashaw said. "And it's just amazing; I couldn't [have] wrote a better story myself. It was perfect."
Before the first TJ Dillashaw vs. Renan Barao fight, "The Baron" was one of the most prevailing fighters to come out of Brazil's prestigious Nova Uniäo camp. He held an impressive record of 32-1, with 1 no contest.
TJ Dillashaw himself admitted that he was expecting a dogfight coming into the match, but was surprised with the way he was able to control his Brazilian opponent.
"I knew I had the gamepland and the athleticism to beat Barao the way I did," Dillashaw continued. "Obviously I expected a really tough fight, a war. Everything went super smooth for me, so yeah, I guess I expected a little tougher fight."
Now that he has the belt, "The Viper's" confidence level is on a high. This is why he promises another victory for him and his camp, Team Alpha Male.
"I'm gonna win 10 out of 10 times," Dillashaw confidently said. "That's just the fact that I'm going to continue to get better. I'm going to be better than I even was when he faces me again."
