Whitney Houston's mom, Cissy Houston, has expressed her non-support over Lifetime's decision to create a biopic for her late daughter.

In a recent statement given to Entertainment Tonight, Cissy said, "Lifetime has chosen to go ahead with the movie about Whitney in spite of my family's objections. No one connected with this movie knew Whitney or anything about her relationship with ex husband Bobby Brown. In the two years since Whitney's death, many people have stepped forward to speak about their close relationship to her. I find it difficult to believe people who knew and supposedly loved her would participate in a movie about her done by folks who didn't know her."

Cissy concluded, "We are exhausted by the continuing misinformation and comments offered by people who did not know her. Please please let her rest."

The movie, which is set to star Yaya DeCosta, is directed by Whitney's former co-star in "Waiting to Exhale," Angela Bassett, according to US Weekly.

Other celebrities involved in the making of the biopic are Arlen Escarpeta, who will play the role of Bobby Brown and Yolanda Ross, who will be playing the role of Whitney's good friend and assistant, according to Indie Wire.

Whitney's biopic will specifically shed light on the "I Will Always Love You" singer's tumultuous romance with Brown, with whom she shares a daughter, Bobbi Kristina, the same publication noted.

Meanwhile, in a separate interview with Entertainment Weekly, Bassett confirmed her attempts at reaching out to Whitney's family.

"We reached out to them in the early days; of course we're not going to do the movie and not say anything to them. We paid our respects and let the conversation be had, just to get their okay. They certainly could have been not involved and against it," Bassett explained.

The biopic which is tentatively entitled "Whitney Houston" is slated for release next year, according to Business Standard.
