Quentin Tarantino's confirmed that "The Hateful Eight" movie will push through after all, as the famed director hinted that a new script is now in the works. Prior to this however, the filmmaker is set to accomplish a comic book project titled "Django Meets Zorro" with Dynamite Entertainment.
When asked by a fan about his next movie project to be directed, Quentin Tarantino said "The Hateful Eight" may come to the big screen, The Celebrity Café reported. The announcement was made during the 10th anniversary celebration of Dynamite Entertainment in which Tarantino attended to promote his current project, the comic book "Django Meets Zorro".
Quentin Tarantino's "The Hateful Eight" already got a buzz earlier this year, but due to a script leak made by Gawker in January, the "Django Unchained" director filed a lawsuit against the website, eventually dropping charges a couple of months after.
Tarantino has reportedly made script reading with the supposed "The Hateful Eight" cast on April and was reworking on the second and third drafts of the script. No news came about the movie until Tarantino was asked during the Dynamite Entertainment panel faced fans in San Diego Comic-Con on July 27th.
While it is not yet confirmed as to when the movie will start filming, Quentin Tarantino is on the move to promote "Django meets Zorro", a crossover comic book series published by Dynamite Entertainment. According to Deadline, Tarantino was approached by Dynamite CEO Nick Barruci before filming "Django Unchained" (which he directed) to do a story crossover between Zorro and Django in a comic book series.
"I loved this idea, not only because I like western comics in general, but I also loved Zorro in all his iterations whether it was the Disney series or the William Witney films. I thought it was a great idea of taking the most famous, fictional Mexican western hero and putting him together with the newer, famous black western hero," said Tarantino.
Tarantino works hand in hand with Matt Wagner for the plot and Esteve Polls for the comic book illustrations, the Fashion Times reported.
"This project is an absolute thrill," Wagner told IGN. "When Quentin and I first met, it felt like we'd known each other for years. The give-and-take energy of our initial story sessions was just incredible! It's a particular buzz to be writing Zorro once again...and especially to team him up with the magnetic lead character from Quentin's most straight-up heroic movie, Django Unchained! The Wild West is never gonna be the same once these two come to town!"
Quentin Tarantino's "Django Meets Zorro" comic book crossover is set for a November release.
