There is no denying that Chris Pratt before and after photos show a significant difference in the actor's physique.
The actor who was known to play more of the goofy characters in the past never thought that he will be star in a Marvel movie, let alone be the lead.
In an interview with ABC's "Nightline," Chris shared how Marvel approached him for the role.
"Marvel did not show me a script. They're like, 'Hi, we're Marvel.' And I was like, 'Hi, I'll do anything.' And they're like, 'Yeah, you will.'"
Chris plays Peter Quill in Marvel's upcoming "Guardians of the Galaxy" movie. His character will lead a team of outlaws for a very specific mission. Despite landing the role, Chris was never the first choice. "Guardians of the Galaxy" movie director James Gunn relayed how he too was very sceptical at first to give Chris the lead.
"Somebody first suggested him to me, I thought, you got to be kidding me. This chubby guy from 'Parks and Rec'?" Gunn said. "There's no way I'm going to make that guy the star of my movie."
But, the director had a change of heart less than a minute through Chris' audition.
"I knew within 20 seconds of his audition this is absolutely the guy," he said. "And the truth is, Chris Pratt is the biggest movie star in the world. It's just people don't know it yet."
On his way to becoming a big movie star, Chris had to really lose weight and buff up. And for his "Guardians of the Galaxy" role, he shared how the team managed to keep track of his weight.
"They would send someone over to my house to measure me every week," he said. "It was like I was on 'The Biggest Loser' but there was no camera crew."
"They would send me prop guns... I would take a picture with it, pose with the gun so they could see how it looked in my hand. Meanwhile, what they're secretly doing is, 'How fat is Chris, still?' And that's what the photo was," he continued. "They're like, 'Oh, we also need you to try on these gloves. Make sure it's a full body shot with the glove on.' Oh, yeah, thanks."
And when asked about Chris' before and after story, here's what he had to say:
"I used to be a door-to-door salesman. I lived in a van," Pratt said. "I'm a f------ Hollywood movie star now. I'm going to be happy every day that I walk onto set because I've got nothing to complain about."
