It looks as if director Christopher Nolan (Inception, The Dark Knight Trilogy) has done it again. The Interstellar trailer 2 is out and it is a majesty to behold. It's pretty clear now that the folks over at Comic-con 2014 who were privileged enough to have been the first to see the second trailer for the movie were not exaggerating. It really is that good.
And if this is just the trailer, what would the movie be like?
While plot details are difficult to come by, given the thickness of the secrecy and mystery in which the film is shrouded in, what we know for sure is this: the movie revolves around Cooper (played by Matthew McConaughey), who is some kind of engineer.
Cooper's skills are badly needed by the world because of what it had come to. The impending disaster is apparently mass starvation because of the adverse effects of climate change. Cooper is then sent to outer space, and this is when things get hazy.
According to the Interstellar spoilers and rumors that abound, this movie will involve time travel and worm holes. The science that the movie is based on, is one that has been studied by astrophysicist Kip Thorne, who is a consultant in the movie.
While the original Interstellar trailer told us what we need to know to lay a finger on the movie's general plot, the Interstellar trailer 2 expands this knowledge just a bit further. We see in the trailer that Anne Hathaway and David Oyelowo are space travelers who are companions to McConaughey on his mission. We also discover that Wes Bentley is part of the mission as well, and he acts sort of like the guide for the team. At one point he says to Cooper, "You have to think about your family. But you have to think bigger than that."
We also know now from the Insterstellar 2 trailer, that the mission involves finding another planet that could possibly accommodate human life.
The Interstellar trailer 2 gives us majestic images of outer space, the vastness and beauty that space evokes are captured perfectly here. But more than this, the film is a real, emotional heavyweight. And it mostly comes from the relationships depicted on the screen, specifically, with Cooper and his children.
