Rickson Gracie claims Jiu-Jitsu is still the best martial art today, as the Vale Tudo legend deemed other fighting forms as ineffective because of the "sporting aspect."

Rickson Gracie's Jiu-Jitsu success is known world-wide, not only because he belongs to the famed family that brought the martial art to prominence, but also because of his success as a Vale Tudo fighter.

According to Sherdog.com his most notable fights were Vale Tudo events in Japan, wherein he dominated the competition and emerged as winner for both the 1994 and 1995 tournaments. He also competed at PRIDE FC's first and fourth events, wherein he both won via submission.

Rickson Gracie's Jiu-Jitsu loyalty has been recorded throughout the years, as he had criticized the current state of the said martial art and its integration into MMA. Most recently, he spoke to Fight Hub TV, and once again, he gave his opinions about the matter.

For the Vale Tudo legend, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is still the most effective fighting form out there.

"The core of jiu-jitsu is finding yourself comfortable regardless if the guy wants to punch you in the face, if he wants to head-butt you or throw you on the ground," Gracie said. "So that's the concept."

Rickson Gracie also argued that while other fighting forms have their respective advantages, they have all been compromised because of the "sporting aspect" that was integrated within them.

"All martial arts are different. They all got deluded by the sporting aspect," Gracie said. "Judo 200 years ago was supposed to be the same as Jiu-Jitsu. But they started to polish the rules and now judo is completely a sport by itself that doesn't translate in real life."

"Also taekwondo or karate - they (are) great athletes, but they lost the perspective of how to handle strikes and going to the ground," he added. "They do not have this kind of understanding of being comfortable regardless (of the situation)."
